brief checklist.
A useful AI product video brief answers three questions: what are we showing, who should care, and what should they do next? Use this checklist to turn an idea into a clear production conversation.
Start with the audience and the action.
Describe the person you want to reach and the problem your product solves for them. Choose one main action: visit a product page, request a quote, send a WhatsApp message or remember a new launch. A short film works best when the message has a clear priority.
Tell us where the video will run. An e-commerce product page, an Instagram Reel and a sales presentation may need different pacing, framing and supporting text. Mention whether you need production only or help with Meta advertising as well.
Send assets that show the real product.
- Product photographs: clear front, side and detail views, with packaging and labels visible.
- Brand files: your logo, approved colours, fonts and any existing brand guidelines.
- Accurate copy: the product name, specifications, offer and any wording that must stay unchanged.
- References: a few examples of lighting, mood or editing you like, with a note explaining what you like about each.
For jewellery, show the shape, stones and fastening. For food or cosmetics, include accurate packaging and approved claims. For software, share real interface captures when viewers need to see how the product works. AI scenes can illustrate an idea; they should not invent product capabilities.

Agree the deliverables before production.
- Approximate duration and the number of distinct scenes.
- Required formats: vertical, square or landscape, with platform and placement details.
- Voiceover language, subtitles, on-screen text and sound requirements.
- Deadline, review contacts and who gives final approval.
- Revision rounds, exports and any additional cutdowns included in the quote.
AI generation may need several attempts to achieve an approved result. Agree which product details need close review and whether any scenes should use supplied photography instead. Raise any usage requirements for music, voices and brand assets while scoping the project.

“We sell [product] to [audience]. We want a [duration] video for [platform]. The message is [one key benefit], and the next step is [action]. We can share [photos and brand assets]. We need [formats and languages], would like to launch by [date], and have a budget of [range].”
